Where to See Christmas Lights in Columbus, Ohio

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is driving and/or walking around to see the lights. There’s something so magical about spending a snowy evening with my family, a cup of hot cocoa, and street after street of holiday cheer.

Christmas just… softens everything, you know? Everyone—from my teammates to my clients—starts to view the whole world in a new, more optimistic light (pun intended). I love how the holidays bring people together, how families keep traditions alive, and, of course, the special kind of joy that permeates this time of year.

So, if you’re new to Columbus and looking for the best light shows in the area, you’re in the right place. I know these streets like the back of my hand, and I’m prepared to let you in on our best-kept holiday secrets (shhh!).

For starters, Butch Bandos Fantasy Of Lights is a can’t-miss experience. They’re located at the Alum Creek State Park Campgrounds from November 22 to January 1, and the fun begins at 5:30 PM every day. Payment is per car and only $20 on weekdays! This is a family-owned and operated show, so I love supporting them every year.

Another favorite of mine is WonderLight’s Christmas in Ohio. This one is at Hartford Fairgrounds and runs through January 5 (great for keeping the holiday spirit alive!). Plus, it’s open—rain, shine, or snow—every day. And it’s only $30 for cars of up to seven people, so bring your friends!

Now, if you have kids, Wildlights at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium will be a big hit. Again, they run all the way through January 5, and admission is included with your regular zoo ticket. That means you can go early, enjoy the animals, and then wander through the glowing exhibits.

Finally, though it’s a newer event, I already love Wanderlights in Downtown Columbus. They’re operational through February 16 (!!), with over half a million lights to see and special experiences galore. Meet Santa Claus, enjoy live music, and support our local businesses during the most wonderful time of the year.

There are so many places to see Christmas lights around here (including your own neighborhood), so grab your hot cocoa and enjoy! Wishing you and yours a joyful and peaceful holiday season.
